Grand tour and Phare (Local Cambodian Circus)
Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams. -Ashley Will Smith
Grand Tour – This tour cost only 18 usd for a group with max of 6 people. But since I’m alone, I paid for the whole tour for myself. You will visit the following temples : Pre Rup, East Mebon, Ta Som, Neak Pean, Preah Khan, North Gate of Angkor Wat for Sunset. Pre Rup is my favorite of all temples .
Little suggestion here; tipping your guide and driver won’t hurt much you pocket in exchange of their service which is beyond on what your paying for. They will really take care of you.
Hate the above picture! A local policeman approached me here and asked if I want to have a picture? At first I felt something is not right, But he was so persuasive . I said Yes, why not. Then, after taking my picture, He asked for some money in return. I gave him 2000 Cambodian money but still he asked for more then I gave him additional 1 usd. Is acceptable if a child or some vendors ask or beg for some money but a policeman! Definitely, No ! Some Cambodian people told me how corrupt most policeman and the Government of Cambodia. Cambodia is a beautiful place and also beautiful and kind people . But it really sadden me to see on my own eyes how corrupt the Gov’t here. They exploit the whole Cambodia country ! There are lots of prostitution and corrupt gov’t official. Philippines also have these problem but I think Cambodia is much worst .
Temples tickets and most of the establishments in Siem Reap are own by private foreign people/companies mostly Vietnamese ? As some Cambodian said there were no amount given to the local people or local gov’t of Siem Reap from the proceed of the temples ticket. I totally hate it! Poverty here is beyond worst than the Philippines.
At night I enjoyed the Phare Circus, this is truly a must see in Siem Reap for just 15 usd per person , you will definitely enjoy the vibe from the performance of local Cambodian youth plus your helping them. These youth are such an inspiration, knowing their life stories, the difficulties they faced and their decision to revert all the hardship and negativity in their life to positive vibes through acrobatic performance is really amazing.
After the show, We with Sarat went to X bar (rooftop) where there were Filipino band playing some Jason Mraz, reggae and RnB musics. Plus there is a billiard table you can play with . I had a blast on my last night here in Siem Reap! I only spent 4 usd for 2 drinks and french fries. #solotraveller #SiemReap #Temples
